Juan Pucci is a retired heart surgeon and nature photographer in Costa Rica. Since 2000 he has published twelve photography books, many with his sons, covering a wide range of topics of Costa Rica.Over the years, he has participated in twenty six group or individual exhibits in Costa Rica, as well as in San Francisco, Calif. ( Natural World Museum in 2004) and in Berlin, Germany (2006). His photographic work has also been showed at the National Museum, the Central Bank Museum, the National Theater gallery, the National Library and the National Gallery, all in Costa Rica. He was invited to the First Annual Image Exhibit in Costa Rica (2010). In 2013, two of his images were printed as collectable stamps by the national post office. One of his images was selected by Epson for its 2016 calendar, and two were selected for months in the National Park calendar for 2007. In 2012 he took first prize in the Natural Resources photo contest sponsored by the International Council of Monument Sites (ICOMOS) and second prize in a contest by the National Parks. He has been honored as “Photographer of the Year” for twelve years by the Photo Club of Costa Rica. He has been published in the international magazines Photolife and Nature´s Best (2004) and the prestigious Black and White in 2014. He has also been a lecturer at Expophoto (2013, 2019), National Medical Congress, the National Technical University, the Israeli Cultural Center, and the Photo Club of Costa Rica in numerous times. He exhibited his work at the Valoarte Fair in Costa Rica (2014). A biographical interview was published in the first edition of the Costa Rica magazine Photo(2014). He has been elected by Expotour “ Friend of Costa Rica”, by Procomer “Ambassador of Costa Rican brand” and Expophoto 2019 was dedicated to him. In 2022 he was the “Best of Costa Rica” in the World Photographic Cup.
